I don't think there currently is.`

The bounds variable of a coordinate (N) is dimensioned (N,2) (in CDL order)
e.g.

> DEPTH=1;
> NBOUNDS=2;
> float DEPTH(DEPTH);
> DEPTH:units="m";
> DEPTH:bounds="AUX_DEPTH_BOUNDS";
> float AUX_DEPTH_BOUNDS(DEPTH,NBOUNDS);

See CF section 7.1.

Yes, I think you are right to put "DEPTH: sum" in cell_methods.
