Dear All,

I intend to update the standard name table on Tuesday 20th November. If
there are any last minute objections to the planned changes, or indeed
if you spot any errors in the list, please contact me as soon as
possible.

Best wishes,

(Include in the definition: 'This quantity refers to the optical
thickness due to the water that is associated with aerosol particles due
to hygroscopic growth in ambient air, affecting the particle's radius
and refractive index. It corresponds to the difference between the total
dry aerosol optical thickness and total ambient aerosol optical
thickness.
CHANGES TO DEFINITIONS OF NAMES
Correct definition of mass_fraction_of_ammonium_dry_aerosol_in_air to
read: ' "Mass fraction of ammonium" means that the mass is expressed as
mass of NH4.'
Add the following sentences to definitions of all names concerning black
carbon aerosol: 'Black carbon aerosol is composed of elemental carbon.
It is strongly light-absorbing.' (This affects just one existing name:
mass_fraction_of_black_carbon_dry_aerosol_in_air).
For sets of names involving:
particulate_organic_matter_dry_aerosol
secondary_particulate_organic_matter_dry_aerosol
primary_particulate_organic_matter_dry_aerosol
amend the definitions to say that the first is the sum of the second and
the third terms. (This affects a triplet of existing names - the
mass_fraction names for these aerosols).
