Hi Christiane -
As part of the new discussion board/mailing list system, you were
automatically subscribed to cf-metadata at lists.llnl.gov (by virtue of
your subscription to cf-metadata at cgd.ucar.edu). As a member of this
"parent" list, you'll receive email sent to any of the new CF working
group lists. It was set up this way so that people would not miss out on
important discussions during the transition from the old mailing list to
the new system.
To "opt-out" of the parent list and selectively "opt-in" to the
sub-lists, send an email message to majordomo at lists.llnl.gov with the body:
unsubscribe cf-metadata
subscribe cf-conventions
subscribe cf-standard-names
subscribe cf-wg-*
end
...where cf-wg-* is zero or more of the CF working group mailing lists.
For example, to subscribe to the "core" CF mailing lists and also to the
mailing lists for the CF GIS working group and CF NetCDF4 working group
lists, the body of your email should be:
unsubscribe cf-metadata
subscribe cf-conventions
subscribe cf-standard-names
subscribe cf-wg-gis
subscribe cf-wg-netcdf4
end

Also remember that these mailing lists are tied to the new message board
system - you send email to the list by posting a message on the message
board, not by sending an email directly to the list. You receive email
via the list, just like a standard mailing list.
