Here I am giving my collected to responses to your outstanding requests
17-27.
 
> 17. friction_velocity, m s-1
> 18. greenness_index, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), 1
These are both fine.

> 19. spectral models in some cases calculate negative humidities, to

these difference

I suggest that we use the word "correction" rather than "filling" as the
latter sounds to me more like something that might be used to "fill"
missing data values, rather than an adjustment for something arising
from the model numerics. I think the clearest name would be:
specific_humidity_correction_for_negative_values_calculated_by_spectral_
models
or I suppose we could have just:
specific_humidity_correction plus a clear description in the definition
to say exactly what this means.

> 20. tendency_of_dry_energy_of_atmosphere_layer, W m-2
> 21. tendency_of_atmosphere_water_vapor_content_due_to_convection, kg
m-2 s-1
> 22. tendency_of_atmosphere_water_vapor_content, kg m-2 s-1
These are all fine.

> 23. snow_thermal_energy, J m-2
I suggest we modify this slightly to:
snow_thermal_energy_content; J m-2, otherwise fine.

> 24. snow_density; kg m-3
Fine.

> 25. surface_net_downward_radiative_flux_where_land; kg m-3
I assume that the units should actually be W m-2, otherwise fine.

> 26. volume_fraction_of_frozen_water_in_soil; 1
> 27. liquid_water_content_of_snow_layer; kg m-2
These are both fine.
