CF developers and users,
As you may know the GODAE High Resolution SST Pilot Project (GHRSST-PP,
http://www.ghrsst-pp.org/) has adopted a flavor of netCDF-CF as its data
standard for both the level 2 (swath) data and the level 4 (gridded)
fields. This is a significant step towards seamless interoperability
between the modeling community and the satellite community. However,
there has been limited direct input from the CF community to the GHRSST
community on the technical aspects of adapting CF to meet satellite data
needs. In particular, 1) _the use of CF for swath data represents a
significant new class of data_ that has not been directly addressed by
the CF community previously; and 2) the GHRSST community variable names
are encoded as the netCDF variable names; _what considerations should be
made for CF standard names_?
==> This is an opportunity to provide meaningful review comments to
the GHRSST community.
* The most recent spec for the L2P (swath) files is attached -- see
Appendix A1, p25.
* The L4 specification can be found in the GHRSST Data Processing
Specification document,
