The standard names listed below will be added to the table in two weeks' time,
on Monday 15th November, unless anyone has further comments. Most of them have
been proposed and discussed before on this email list. In summary, they are:
* Radiative flux, radiance and spherical irradiance (i.e. incident on a
hemispherical surface) and equivalent photon fluxes in sea water. Email of Roy
Lowry on 29th July.
* "Gaps" filled in so that rainfall, snowfall and precipitation can all be
expressed as flux (kg m-2 s-1), rate (m s-1), amount (kg m-2) or thickness
(i.e. accumulated rate) (m). Email of Sue Latham on 2nd June.
* Various standard names requested by Karl Taylor because they are required for
quantities being collected by PCMDI for the IPCC 4th assessment report:
- northward ocean tracer transports due to gyre, overturning and diffusion.
- ISCCP cloud fraction.
- Sulfate aerosol concentration and atmosphere content.
- Precipitation onto and evaporation from vegetation canopy.
- Net clear-sky LW and SW fluxes in air.
- Global average sea level change and the part due to thermal expansion.
