Dear All,
At moment a number of groups working with climate indices are discussing a coordinated way to calculate the 27 ETCCDI climate indices for upcoming CMIP6 and CORDEX activities.
I see that a while ago there were discussions on climate indices (
http://cf-trac.llnl.gov/trac/ticket/33) and standard names for a few indices have already been defined (
http://cfconventions.org/Data/cf-standard-names/27/build/cf-standard-name-table.html):
spell_length_of_days_with_air_temperature_above_threshold
spell_length_of_days_with_air_temperature_below_threshold
spell_length_of_days_with_lwe_thickness_of_precipitation_amount_above_threshold
spell_length_of_days_with_lwe_thickness_of_precipitation_amount_below_threshold
I don't know whether similar work has been done for all 27 ETCCDI climate indices (standard and long names, cell methods etc.) or not? Does someone know any activities this direction? Any tables?
The indices have been calculated for the CMIP3/CMIP5 simulations (
http://www.cccma.ec.gc.ca/data/climdex) but only long names are available in netcdf files.
Best,
Grisha.
