Hi Paul,
From the CF Checker point of view, it does a comparison to ensure that
the units specified in the netcdf file are dimensionally equivalent to
those specified for the standard_name (if specified) in the Standard
Name table. For the standard_name "depth" the canonical units defined
are metres. Hence the error message you received. Hopefully, someone
will be able to advise if there is a more appropriate standard_name
available, which better matches your needs.
