Dear Jonathan and Philip,
Thanks for your responses regarding the large_scale/stratiform names.

It seems that we are all agreed to standardize on stratiform. The
following 15 aliases will be created at the next update of the standard
name table.
large_scale_cloud_area_fraction -> stratiform_cloud_area_fraction
large_scale_graupel_flux -> stratiform_graupel_flux
large_scale_precipitation_amount -> stratiform_precipitation_amount
large_scale_precipitation_flux -> stratiform_precipitation_flux
large_scale_rainfall_amount -> stratiform_rainfall_amount
large_scale_rainfall_flux -> stratiform_rainfall_flux
large_scale_rainfall_rate -> stratiform_rainfall_rate
large_scale_snowfall_amount -> stratiform_snowfall_amount
large_scale_snowfall_flux -> stratiform_snowfall_flux
lwe_large_scale_precipitation_rate -> lwe_stratiform_precipitation_rate
lwe_large_scale_snowfall_rate -> lwe_stratiform_snowfall_rate
lwe_thickness_of_large_scale_precipitation_amount ->
lwe_thickness_of_stratiform_precipitation_amount
lwe_thickness_of_large_scale_snowfall_amount ->
lwe_thickness_of_stratiform_snowfall_amount
thickness_of_large_scale_rainfall_amount ->
thickness_of_stratiform_rainfall_amount
thickness_of_large_scale_snowfall_amount ->
thickness_of_stratiform_snowfall_amount
Best wishes,
Alison
