We have used names adopted by the WMO/UNEP Scientific Assessment of Ozone
Depletion. As you say, IUPAC would be an alternative.

Consider: mole_fraction_of_cfc113_in_air

The IUPAC based version would, I think, be either:
mole_fraction_of_1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane_in_air
Or:
mole_fraction_of_112trichlorotrifluoroethane_in_air

The second may lead to possible ambiguities by leaving out the IUPAC
punctuation. The first may upset software by including punctuation in the
name.

My preference is to stay with cfc113, but if there is a general preference
for
another formulaton we can change it.
