Standard deviation is indicated by cell_methods (CF 7.3 and Appendix E). You
have specify whether you mean temporal or spatial standard deviation i.e. which
axis you mean.

> - Number of Samples of Chlorophyll-a
This is indicated a standard name modifier (3.4 and Appendix C). The number
of samples is regarded as ancillary data, rather than an different quantity
needing its own standard name.

If by "standard deviation" you mean the error of measurement, then that is
also treated as ancillary data.
