[CF-metadata] ancillary variables and coordinates

Hi All,
   Does the spatio temporal coordinates specified for a variable apply
automatically to all the ancillary variables as well or do they need to
be specified explicitly for each ancillary variable? Or is it left to
the software to decide? Is there any recommendation here?
