We have a good number of people to begin work on a "Point Observation Data" convention. The hob of the working group is to generate a proposal to be presented to the CF committee.

You will want to be either interested in the nuts and bolts of netcdf and CF, or have point/station/trajectory/profile/etc type data and want to find standard/interoperable ways to write it to disk.
