Dear Dr. Jonathan Gregory,

My name is Masayuki Hirai. I take over from Takuya Sakashita.

In general, there are two kinds of definitions for the volume ratio of
water in soil.
* the volume ratio of soil water in soil (mass), which includes soil
particles and soil pore. This value must be from 0 to soil porosity (about
0.4).
* the volume ratio of soil water in soil pore. This value must be from 0
to 1.

On the other hand, it is not serious problem for us whether using the word
?condensed? water or ?water?.
This distinction may be required if the model treat water vapor in soil
separately from water in soil.

Thank you very much.

Best Regards,
Masayuki Hirai
