Dear cf-metadata,
I proposed to include following (not dimensionless) vertical coordinate to
cf-conventions:
Atmosphere Gal-Chen height coordinate (after Gal-Chen and Somerville,
1975)
standard_name = "atmosphere_gal-chen_height_coordinate"
Definition:
z(n,k,j,i) = zs(j,i) + gal-chen(k)*(1-ztop/zs(j,i))
where z(k,j,i) is altitude at gridpoint (k,j,i), ztop is the height at the
top of the model, gal-chen(k) is the Gal-Chen height of the vertical
gridpoint (k)in meter, and zs(j,i) is the surface altitude at horizontal
gridpoint (j,i) (topography).
The format for the formula_terms attribute is
formula_terms = "gal-chen: var1 zs: var2 ztop: var3"

Transformation for the Solution of Navier-Stockes. J. Comput. Phys., 17,
209-228.
original formulation:
with ho = topographie (m)
Z = gal-chen height (m)
Ht = height of model top (m)
h = height (m)

Beate
